My opinion:
The cover with the evil look that the eyes radiate behind the mask puts you in the right mood for this audio book. In addition, the deep voices of the two speakers Julian Horeyseck and Matthias Lühn, which fit very well with the individual criminal cases. Are crimes really committed in the dark in a lonely place? Certainly less fundamentally, the crimes are often quite different. A mother kidnaps her own child, a trustworthy doctor builds a hotel with many secret passages where he murders his guests. A girl hires a hit man to kill her own parents. We learn all of this here from cases that really happened. In addition, the experienced crime and intelligence analyst Mark T. Hoffmann has his say in three cases, including about his work as a profiler and what distinguishes a psychopath from other perpetrators. It is precisely this additional information that makes this book even more interesting for me. You get a completely different insight into the matter from experts in the field. I was already familiar with some of the cases, including the "Horror Hotel" that I already knew from Wolfgang Hohlbein's book. Likewise the story "Missing Maddie McCann", as this tragic missing person case went through the media for weeks. Nevertheless, it is interesting to have these cases presented again in detail here. The author gives me a lot of background information that I did not know from the media before. In addition, the Jarow gives his conclusion and assessments of the case after each criminal case. And also further information on interesting topics such as B. Detection dogs and their different types, prison breakouts, serial killers, missing persons cases, and cybercrime can be found in this book. Here I become aware of how much work the author has done to reproduce everything as realistically as possible to the reader. Since I did not know the author before, I am pleasantly surprised at how detailed the author presents these criminal cases. This makes listening for over 9 hours even more informative. That's why I absolutely have to recommend this audio book and give it 5 out of 5 stars for this informative listening experience.
