Oils and fats are chemically the same; Fat is solidified to oil by heating and oil by cooling. The condition at room temperature determines whether it is called fat or oil.
Do humans even need fat?
More than most people think. Above all, fat serves as an energy reserve. A healthy, slim man weighing 70 kg should have 20% of it, i.e. 14 kg, as fat; a woman 25%, i.e. 17.5 kg with the same weight.
Fat-soluble vitamins can only be absorbed if there is sufficient fat. In addition, the membranes that surround our body cells and divide their various inner areas are made of fat.
In general, too little fat intake is unhealthy. The low-fat and carbohydrate-rich diet, which has been strongly recommended in recent years, has, among other things, a very low satiety value. You quickly get hungry again and eat more. Excess carbohydrates are converted into fat. High-fat food, on the other hand, not only tastes better, it is also digested more slowly and therefore satiates for longer.
Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO), also known as natural coconut oil, is free of any additives and still contains all of the original active ingredients, some of which have probably remained undiscovered to this day.
In contrast, ordinary industrial coconut oil has little to do with what was once in the ripe coconut. Not only is it biologically dead, it also does not contain any of the valuable ingredients and active ingredients originally contained.
Due to the gentle manufacturing process, VCO still contains the natural preservatives that prevent the oil from going rancid or otherwise spoiling for years. With three to five years, VCO has the longest shelf life of all edible oils.
The medical wisdom still prevalent today claims that coconut oil is harmful to health because it contains almost only saturated fatty acids. The literature cited below proves the opposite.

You could call VCO a low fat fat. An interesting aspect of VCO digestion is that neither the bile otherwise required to emulsify and break down the fat nor the digestive enzymes from the pancreas are required. In this way, the body saves valuable substances when consuming VCO, which are absolutely necessary for the digestion of common fats.
Overweight people who consume several hundred calories VCO (e.g. four tablespoons) in addition to their normal daily food intake can lose up to a pound in a week. The sustainability that can be achieved with VCO is important. Underweight people don't have to worry about losing weight from VCO; rather, the muscle building promoted by VCO, especially during physical activity, can cause weight gain.
Because of its medium- and short-chain fatty acids, VCO is not only easily absorbed and burned quickly, but it even enables the processing of hard-to-digest, long-chain fatty acids, such as those found in animal fats such as lard, without residue or fat deposits. VCO is the natural food with the highest concentration (66-77%) of these beneficial medium and short chain fatty acids.
While the body digests VCO just as quickly as carbohydrates and converts it into energy, it leaves the blood sugar level unchanged, an invaluable plus for diabetics.
The antimicrobial effectiveness of VCOs is also based on its content of short and medium chain fatty acids, all of which have various degrees of antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, antiparasitic and antiprotozoal properties. Lauric acid (almost 50% of coconut oil) has the strongest antiviral powers and without any negative side effects. Significantly, it can also be found in breast milk.
A medium weight adult should consume about 50 grams or 3-4 tablespoons of VCO daily. You should have a mug ready in the kitchen and in the bathroom.
Initially, some people are reluctant to take the oil or fat straight, although it tastes much better than cod liver oil, for example. Experience shows that you get used to it surprisingly quickly. If you replace all of your oil and fat needs in the kitchen with VCO, it can be the equivalent of one or two tablespoons. It is well known that fat generally improves the taste!
Storage in plastic containers is harmless below 24 ° C. In liquid form, it should be kept in glass containers for a long time.
Since the skin is home to enzymes that release the medium-chain fatty acids, VCO not only makes the skin smooth and soft, it also promotes healing and protects against bacteria and other pathogens. Because of the shortness of the fatty acid chains, which make up almost 75% of the VCO, the oil is easily absorbed into the skin. After a few weeks, even the most stressed skin becomes soft and smooth again. With the appropriate patience, successful healing of neurodermatitis and psoriasis has also been reported. VCO's thin oil film protects against sun rays and drying out and promotes an attractive, typical tan. VCO also proves to be an excellent lip balm.
The arguments made for the skin also apply to the hair. Not only is VCO a perfect hair styling product that dwarfs costly conditioners, it also removes stubborn dandruff. One or two teaspoons (depending on hair volume) massaged into the scalp and hair in the evening, washed out in the morning, revitalizes the hair and strengthens its internal health.
