Apple bacon pizza with roasted onion batter, cheddar cheese & cress

Ingredients for 2-3 servings

For the dough:
  • 140 ml of lukewarm water
  • salt
  • 2 - 3 pan pizza tins
  • 1/2 cube of fresh yeast
  • 3 tbsp fried onions
  • 300 grams of flour
  • 50 g quark
For covering:
  • 2 red apples
  • black pepper, freshly ground
  • 300 grams of cheddar
  • olive oil
  • 1/2 pot of garden cress
  • 5 sprigs of rosemary
  • 200 g sour cream
  • 10 slices of bacon

Do you love trying out new pizza variations? Then you should definitely try our homemade pizza with apple and bacon! With our apple-bacon pizza, not only is the topping something very special, but also the dough. We opted for a homemade dough with curd cheese and fried onions for this pizza. Instead of a fruity tomato sauce, sour cream is used as the basis for this pizza. Then the pizza is topped with apple slices and fried bacon. Of course, the cheese should not be missing in a pizza, which is why we sprinkled our apple-bacon pizza with grated cheddar cheese. Finally, there is also some rosemary and cress on our apple-bacon pizza. Baked crispy, our apple and bacon pizza is simply irresistible! So definitely try the pizza for yourself! That's how it's done:

  1. Step 1: First you make the fried onion pizza dough. To do this, pour the flour into a bowl. Then dissolve the yeast in lukewarm water and add to the flour together with the quark. Season the dough with 1 teaspoon salt and knead to form an elastic dough. Now cover with a damp cloth and let the dough rise for at least an hour. After the rising time, work the fried onions into the dough.
  2. Step 2: In the meantime, you can take care of the topping. To do this, fry the bacon in a pan until it is half crispy. Mix the sour cream well with salt and pepper. You can coarsely grate the cheddar, pluck the rosemary and then finely chop it.
  3. Step 3: Now you grease the pan pizza tins well with olive oil and press the dough into the tins. Preheat the oven to 250 degrees top / bottom heat. Then you can core the apples and cut them into narrow wedges. First the sour cream comes on the dough, then you sprinkle two thirds of the cheddar on top, then spread the apple slices and swn bacon on top and finally sprinkle rosemary and the rest of the cheddar again. Bake the pizza in a hot oven for about 16 minutes until golden brown. Serve sprinkled with cress.
