Add music to your series of tracks to play next on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Android device

Play a song and let similar songs play automatically. Or put music in the row of tracks you'd like to play next. Share control of your series of titles. You can also transfer your series of titles between your iPhone and HomePod. You'll never miss a sound while listening to music - all with Apple Music.

Let autoplay choose what plays next

With autoplay, you no longer have to choose what to play next. Just play a track, and autoplay will find similar tracks and then play them back.

To view your series of tracks for autoplay:

  1. Tap the track that's playing at the bottom of the screen.
  2. In the lower right corner of your screen, tap Next Track.
  3. Scroll down to AutoPlay.

Tap the AutoPlay button in the upper right corner of your screen to toggle autoplay on or off. If you turn off autoplay on any of your devices, autoplay is turned off on any device signed in with your Apple ID.

Autoplay is only available if you have a subscription to Apple Music.

Choose what you want to play next

  1. Open the Apple Music app and play music.
  2. Find the tracks, albums, or playlists that you want to play next.
  3. When you find a track, touch and hold it, then choose when to play it:
    • To play your selection directly after the track played, tap on "Next track".
    • To put your selection at the end of your title row, tap "Play last".

View and change what's playing next

  1. Tap the track that's playing at the bottom of the screen.
  2. In the lower right corner of your screen, tap Next Track.
  3. From here, you can view and edit your Next Track and AutoPlay tracks.
    • Rearrange music: Draw the three lines next to a title up or down.
    • Remove a title: Swipe the title from right to left, then tap Remove.

If you're playing music that isn't in your series, you'll see an option to delete your series. If you choose Delete, the music in your series will be replaced with the music you selected to play.

Share control of a series of songs on Apple TV or HomePod

When you're at a friend's house or have guests yourself, everyone in the room can add music to the track row on an Apple TV or HomePod. Anyone who wants to add music needs a subscription to Apple Music and an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

  2. Open the Apple Music app on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
  3. Tap the player at the bottom of the screen.
  4. Tap AirPlay.
  5. Scroll and tap the card for the HomePod or Apple TV. Then tap the card again to return to the Apple Music app and view the series of tracks for that device.
  6. Find a track, album, or playlist that you want to play next, touch and hold it, then choose when to play it:
    • To play your selection directly after the track played, tap on "Next track".
