Which innards are healthy?

As the previous example of the liver in beef has shown, innards are generally healthier than lean meat.

1. Liver

When it comes to offal, beef liver is the number one choice. Although beef liver doesn't taste good if not cooked properly, there is hardly a food that is more nutritious.

While pork and chicken liver are also excellent options, beef offal are the best sources of vitamins and minerals.

Above all, the liver can supply those nutrients that are difficult to find elsewhere:

  • Choline is healthy for the brain and cell membranes in general
  • Folate is essential for energy generation, methylation and DNA repair
